The Russian capital and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Cuba have signed a memorandum of intent. The document was signed by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, Maksim Liksutov, and the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila.
The document provides for cooperation in the implementation of a project to create a taxi fleet of vehicles manufactured by JSC MAZ Moskvich in Cuba. A working group has been formed for this purpose, which will develop a business model for the project and determine the procedure for the return of investments by its participants.
Moscow is ready to provide a batch of 50 vehicles and assess the possibility of adapting their multimedia systems to Spanish. The Cuban side will select suitable sites for the taxi fleet.
In addition, M. Liksutov and E. Rodríguez Dávila discussed the possibility of Havana joining the international UrbanTransportData project. The Deputy Mayor also invited employees of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Cuba to participate in a training program at the Corporate University of the Moscow Transport Complex.
“Moscow’s transport complex is always ready to cooperate with colleagues from friendly countries, share its experience and advanced developments. We signed a memorandum of intent with the Cuban side on organizing a taxi fleet of Moskvich cars in the republic. Our cars are successfully operating in taxis and carsharing, in city and federal services and departments. They have proven themselves excellent in operation and maintenance. We welcome the desire of our Cuban partners to develop urban transport and make travel more comfortable and safer”, said Maksim Liksutov.
