With the legal basis for eTIR, Annex 11 of the TIR Convention, entering into force on 25 May, IRU and UNECE are working closely with the public and private sectors to support its implementation.
Yesterday, at a virtual meeting bringing together customs administrations, transport ministry representatives and TIR national issuing and guaranteeing associations, IRU and UNECE outlined the latest developments in the implementation of eTIR in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states.
Several successful projects aimed at TIR digitalisation have already taken place in the ECO region, including between Iran and Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
IRU stands ready to support governments, operators and customs authorities in implementing eTIR, enabling them to reap the efficiency, economic and security benefits of a fully paperless border crossing solution.
