ESPORG, together with several public and private partners, from ECG, ESC, UETR, TVM, Dekra, Truckerslife, ESTA, EPDA, BTB ABVV, UICR, Spanish Shippers Council, TVM, Andamur, mowiz TRUCK, Prima Frio, Calsina Carré, Certas Energy, have come together to pledge their support for professional drivers and their wellbeing as well as call on all those in the industry to #DoYourPart.
Without transport, more than 742 million European citizens would miss essential items for life like medicine, food, building materials, technology, etc., and more than 11 billion EU industries would lose the free flow of goods to their customers.
“Professional drivers carry indispensable items to our society, working in the bloodstream of the body of European industry. Without the transport industry, the daily lives of citizens cannot function,” says ESPORG General Manager Dirk Penasse.
Yet in recent feedback from drivers, many feel that they are treated “less than” or “not like human beings.” We as an industry and society must do more to focus on professional driver wellbeing. The transport industry already lacks 300,000 drivers and 100,000 adequate parking places. It is imperative we take care of the drivers we have and entice other professionals to join the industry.
Therefore, several stakeholders within the transport and logistics industry have come together to pledge their support for professional drivers and to work together to raise awareness for driver wellbeing. In the pledge, the signatories dedicate themselves to spreading awareness, educating, advocating, investing in professional drivers and their wellbeing. Read the full pledge here.
This pledge comes prior to the launch of the Wellbeing Campaign spearheaded by ESPORG, which will occur in March 2025 at their annual ESPORG Conference in the European Parliament.
